Why Finding a Partner Feels So Hard Right Now (And What Helps)

You are doing everything you are supposed to do. You have the apps, you have told your family you are open, you have made dua. And still it feels like you are pushing against something you cannot quite name. If the search feels heavier than it should, you are not imagining it, and you are not the problem.

It really is harder than it used to be

Part of this is genuinely structural. There are more ways to meet people than ever, which sounds like a good thing, but it pulls expectations in too many directions at once. When there always seems to be another profile, another option, another maybe, it becomes strangely difficult for anyone to choose and commit.

Add to that busy city lives in places like London, Birmingham and Manchester, where the hours that might go into really getting to know someone get swallowed by work and everything else. The search gets squeezed into the edges of an already full life.

The part nobody talks about

There is also a quieter reason, and it sits inside us rather than out in the world. The way we behave when we start getting close to someone is often running on autopilot, set long before we were thinking about marriage.

Some of us pull away the moment things get real, and call it being picky. Some of us hold on too tightly and read silence as rejection. Some of us swing between the two. None of this means anything is wrong with you. It just means you have patterns, like everyone does, and patterns are far easier to work with once you can see them.

Why this matters for your search

You can meet the most compatible person in the world, but if you do not understand your own reactions, the same difficulties tend to repeat. The introduction that fizzled, the one you talked yourself out of, the one where you went quiet without knowing why. Often these are not about the other person at all. They are about a pattern that was driving without you noticing.

The good news is that awareness changes things almost immediately. Once you can name what you do, you get a choice you did not have before.

A gentle place to start

Our free attachment style quiz takes a few minutes and tends to be quietly clarifying. It will not tell you who to marry. It will help you understand why getting close has felt the way it has, which is often the thing standing between people and a relationship that actually lasts.

And when you are ready to meet people

Understanding yourself is half of it. The other half is being in the right room, with people who are serious, vetted, and at the same stage as you. That is what we built Roohi to be: a calm, intentional alternative to the swipe and the silence.

You can see our upcoming events here whenever you feel ready. There is no rush. The search is hard enough without adding pressure to it.

Be patient with yourself. You are not behind, and you are not the only one finding this difficult.
