Roohi Events is a matchmaking and events company for Muslim singles. We host in-person and online events to help people build intentional, halal connections.

• To contact you with relevant follow-ups (e.g., matchmaking feedback, matches, surveys)

• To send you updates about future Roohi events — only if you’ve given us permission

• To improve our services and understand our audience

We process your data under the following lawful bases:

• Consent – when you opt in to receive marketing communications

• Contract – to deliver event-related services you’ve signed up for

• Legitimate Interest – to send a one-time follow-up if you've recently attended an event (within 12 months)

 

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.

We may share your information with trusted service providers (e.g., email platforms or Eventbrite) only when necessary to deliver our services. These providers are GDPR-compliant.

In the context of matchmaking events, we may share limited attendee details (such as first name, age, and job title) with other participants ahead of the event to help facilitate meaningful connections.
You can opt out of having your details shared by emailing us at privacy@roohievents.com. Your preferences will always be respected.

6. Data Retention

• If you’ve opted into our mailing list: we retain your data until you unsubscribe.

• If you’ve attended an event but haven’t opted in: we delete or anonymise your data after 12 months.

• You may request deletion at any time.

  For users in the UK, we follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), which governs how personal data is collected, stored, and used. You have rights including access to your data, the right to rectify or erase it, restrict processing, and object to certain uses.
  Roohi ensures all personal data is handled lawfully, fairly, and transparently, in accordance with the UK’s Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR.

• United Arab Emirates (UAE):
  We comply with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), which came into effect in 2022. The PDPL aligns closely with international standards such as GDPR, ensuring transparency, accountability, and respect for your personal data. This includes rights such as data access, correction, portability, and erasure.

• Pakistan:
  While Pakistan has not yet enacted a formal data protection law, a draft bill has been under discussion since 2023. Roohi voluntarily adheres to strong privacy standards when handling the data of users in Pakistan and aligns with principles outlined in the Draft Personal Data Protection Bill and Article 14 of the Constitution of Pakistan (right to privacy).
